What makes a good insurance document?
An underwriter would surely have a detailed answer to this question. From my perspective, after a decade of working with insurance documents, the key is what I call the “Three C’s”:
This is how I address the “Three C’s” in my work:
Conciseness: Thanks to my academic background and extensive experience working with insurance documents, I can readily offer underwriters suggestions on how to streamline their texts. If something can be said in one line instead of two, I’ll let you know.
Consistency: Once I become familiar with a document and its structure, I'll keep an eye on the ripple effects any change might have. Changed a paragraph in Section 1? I’ll remind you that a matching update may be needed in Section 6. You know what I’m talking about.
Clarity: I love writing, and I love grammar. I’ll proofread every sentence and flag any potential issues—clearly and constructively.
Additionally, I believe insurance documents should be visually appealing. Who isn’t tired of long, unbearable walls of text with no proper formatting? As a graphic designer, I will ensure your documents don’t just read well—they will look good, too.
Why work with me?
Two for One
For the same price, you get both a graphic designer and an experienced proofreader. Isn’t that a dream?
Extensive Insurance Experience
I’ve worked in the Travel Insurance industry since 2013. While I wouldn’t call myself an underwriter, I’m highly familiar with the terminology and can quickly spot potential issues in your documents. Additionally, I have handled a large number of insurance documents: at my peak, I was responsible for 65 Policy Wordings and hundreds of IPIDs from different clients - all at the same time.
Keen Eye for Detail
I have a strong focus on detail. Forgot to bold/italicize a defined term? No worries—it won’t slip past me.
Excellent Turnarounds
I complete most small-to-medium jobs within 24 hours. What’s even better – I don’t charge you extra for what other agencies would consider an ‘Express Turnaround’.
Rates by the Minute
I charge you by the minute. If I take 12 minutes to finish a task, I will charge you 12 minutes. I won’t charge you 15 minutes, 30, or even 60 (yes, some agencies will do). I carefully keep track of every minute I work, and I am honest and transparent about it.
IT Security
Your files are safe with me. I was an IT Consultant for a long time, so I certainly know how to be safe in the digital world. My storage system complies with data regulations, too.
Human Approach
You can probably tell by now: I’m a human who enjoys working with other humans. I’m committed to building genuine relationships and treating your project as if it were my own. That, I believe, is invaluable.
Who have I worked with?
I have produced policy wordings, IPIDs, and other regulated insurance documentation for a plethora of leading travel insurance providers, including:
